A man is facing charges after officers say he stole a police vehicle and led investigators on a chase.
According to the Scranton Police Department, on April 24, around 9:00 p.m., officers responded to a business on South Main Avenue for a gun investigation.
An officer responding to the scene said he saw another police vehicle leaving the area pass him into the oncoming traffic lane. Shortly after, the officer was told the vehicle was stolen from the crime scene.
Police stated they began following the stolen patrol car and ordered the driver to get out, however, they did not comply and led officers on a chase.
The suspect, later identified as 27-year-old Christopher Ross from Scranton, eventually slowed down after causing the car to go airborne and exited the police vehicle.
When leaving the car, Ross began to walk away from officers and ignored their commands, leading to him being pushed against the rear of the vehicle, police reported.
EMS was called to help Ross for a possible overdose, and he was taken to Geisinger Community Medical Center.
Ross faces the charges of theft, fleeing police, and flight to avoid apprehension. He remains in the Lackawanna County Prison on a $100,000 bail.
