A 16-year-old has been accused of stealing a Rochester Police Department patrol car early Wednesday morning.
Officers were on a call for service on Spencer Street, near Lake Avenue, around 12:15 a.m. when they saw someone enter their patrol car and drive off, said Lt. Robert Trosinski. The patrol car was later located after it was involved in a crash on Lake Avenue, near the Riverside cemetery and roughly four miles north of the spot where the teen allegedly took the car.
A 16-year-old Rochester boy was apprehended at the scene after he was located nearby, Trosinski said. The teen was taken to Rochester General Hospital with minor injuries.
Officers are investigating the incident and did not release further details. Charges are pending.
