A man is in jail after being accused of stealing a Kennewick Police Department patrol vehicle earlier tonight and crashing in Richland.
According to law enforcement, the abduction of the police cruiser happened around 8 p.m. on Monday, July 24 somewhere in Kennewick before coming to a conclusion on Stevens Drive across from the Port of Benton Richland Business Park. More than a dozen police cars from several Tri-Cities police departments were seen securing the road following the apprehension of the suspect.
Although the stolen police car has significant damage from the crash, police tell us there are no injuries to the suspect or to officers. When pressed for more information, police officers noted that they plan to provide a detailed release of the event on Tuesday, July 25.
