Both Manitoba RCMP and the Winnipeg Police Service are on the hunt for an unmarked SUV stolen Tuesday morning while out for service at a business on Weston Avenue.
Police say the RCMP vehicle was at the business for regular maintenance work when a suspect entered the business, took the keys and stole the vehicle at about 10:55 a.m.
The 2017 black Ford Explorer with Manitoba licence place HYA 548 has flashing red and blue lights in the front and rear. There was no police equipment or weapons in the SUV and police do not believe it was specifically targeted to impersonate an officer.
If you see the vehicle or have concerns about the legitimacy of a traffic stop and believe someone is impersonating a police officer, call 911.
The first suspect is a male with short dark hair wearing grey pants, navy blue jacket with a hood and blue/white running shoes. A second suspect associated with him was also in the area. The male has dark hair and was wearing a red and black plaid jacket, black sweatpants, red shoes and a dark-coloured baseball hat.
Anyone with information on the suspects or stolen vehicle are asked to call the WPS property crimes unit at 204-986-2426.
