UPDATE: Around 8:00 p.m. Monday the Meridian Police Department contacted News 11, stating the name of the individual that was arrested needed to be changed.

It was initially reported that the man arrested for the charges below was named “Colby Campbell.” MPD then told News 11 the man arrested is the man in the mugshot above, but his name is now Christopher Olsen.

Christopher Olsen has been arrested and charged with Felony Fleeing & Motor Vehicle Theft.

He now faces a $100,000 bond.

Christopher is now facing additional charges as of 8:00 Monday evening.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A police car was stolen around 7:00am this morning in the City of Meridian while officers responded to a call on Highway 11& 80.

While officers were out of the car, investigating the call, the suspect jumped into the police car and sped off leading officers on a chase on Highway 39.

The suspect crashed the car near the Kemper County line, after the Lauderdale County Sheriff’s Department set up spikes across the road.

The suspect is now in custody of law enforcement and is facing several felony charges.
