A man is in custody and is facing a slew of charges after leading law enforcement on an hour-long chase from Sacramento to Lodi.
On Friday, just after 12:30 p.m., officers with the Sacramento Police Department responded to reports of a vandalism in the area of Marysville Boulevard and South Avenue. But when officers attempted to detain the suspect, Sacramento police say he managed to steal a marked police car.
After that, the suspect led officers on a chase for more than an hour, driving south on Highway 99.
During the chase, the California Highway Patrol took over the pursuit, which eventually ended near Lodi.
The suspect was later identified as Isaac Paval, a 28-year-old from Sacramento.
He’s facing eight felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm by a felon, and unlawfully driving and taking a vehicle without consent.
Detectives later determined Paval accessed the rifle from the vehicle and fired a round from it. It is unknown who or what Paval intended to fire at, but he as been charged with additional firearm related charges due to the shooting, Sacramento police said.
He’s expected to be in court on Monday.
