The Raiders weren’t the only thing on the go after what may have been their final game at the Oakland Coliseum Monday night. A thief swiped an Oakland Police Department SUV after the game from an officer directing traffic.
Around 9:15 p.m., an officer was working a traffic post on 66th Avenue after the Raiders-Broncos game when someone managed to make off with the SUV.
The vehicle was later recovered, having suffered some damage, in the 3000 block of Elmwood Avenue in the city’s Jingletown neighborhood.
Monday’s incident marked at least the second time a department vehicle had been taken from an on-duty officer this year. In July, a woman was arrested after taking a OPD vehicle from West Oakland and driving it over the Bay Bridge into San Francisco and back.
