A Benson couple was charged Monday with stealing a Johnston County deputy’s car.
A deputy had responded to a call at 971 T-Bar Road shortly after noon, and while he was investigating, his patrol car was stolen. Authorities said Charles Thomas Bullock and Nicole Allsbrook Thomas, who both live next door to where the deputy had responded, were able to get into the vehicle and drive away.
Other deputies were able to quickly locate the stolen patrol car and took the couple into custody. The car wasn’t damaged.
Bullock was charged with larceny of a motor vehicle and larceny of a firearm, which was in the trunk of the patrol car. Thomas was charged with conspiracy to commit larceny of a motor vehicle and conspiracy to commit the larceny of a firearm.
