A teen was arrested in Portage when he took off after he crashed into a gas pump and building on Centre Avenue on Sunday.
Portage police were sent to the C Store Gas Station, 4421 W. Centre Ave., after a vehicle hit a gas pump and the building. Witnesses said the driver took off on foot.
Police were able to locate a 17-year-old Portage boy in the 7900 block of Angling Road and police said he was cooperating with them initially.
Police said while they were checking to see if he needed medical attention the 17-year-old assaulted an officer, jumped into a cruiser and tried to leave with the vehicle.
Police said they had to pull the teen out of the cruiser and use a stun gun on him. Multiple officers restrained him until he could be sent to the hospital for evaluation.
The case is still under investigation and the teen could face charges.
