The City of Brevard said a suspect has been arrested after leading law enforcement on a multi-county chase on Wednesday morning.
According to officials, an officer was hit in the face by a suspect that she was trying to detain while responding to a call near Burrell Avenue and Peace Drive in Brevard. After assaulting the officer, the suspect took her patrol car and fled the scene.
The city said a chase began into Mills River before Henderson County deputies, Fletcher officers, Hendersonville officer, Asheville Airport officers and the North Carolina Highway Patrol joined the pursuit.
Henderson County deputies a issued immobilization technique (PIT maneuver), which disabled the stolen patrol car near exit 53 on I-26, officials said. No one was injured, though Henderson County deputies encountered resistance from the suspect, who was subsequently arrested.

Officials said all Brevard officers involved are expected to return to work soon and the department has verified that all equipment and weapons have been recovered from the patrol car.
