11/15/12 Fergus Falls, MN – Detox Woman Steals Squad Car – Hits Police Officer – Chase Through Stop Signs Struck Curb – Arrested For Assault

A woman about to be checked into Fergus Falls’ detox, ends up leading police on a wild chase through town, after getting away with a squad car.The pursuing officer says the woman was blowing through stop signs, having no concern for public safety.

The woman is facing multiple charges for this gutsy and wreckless stunt.

She even struck a police officer right after putting the car in drive.

She’s 22 year old Naveen Pear Bad Mocassin, she doesn’t have a current address. Police say she had a blood alcohol content of point-2-zero. She’s charged with assault with a dangerous weapon, fleeing, theft, criminal vehicular homicide and DWI.

Police brought Bad Moccasin here, to detox after interviewing her on a possible assault. It was around 12:40 Saturday morning. Police say when the officer went into the building to notify staff, Bad Moccasin somehow shimmied through the backseat divider.

Lt. Eldien: “the space in the window is rather small it’s 11 by 12, so it’s a fairly small space to crawl through.”

She wasn’t cuffed because at this point, she was considered a victim.

But police say as she fled an officer opened the passenger door, leaped into the car and was thrown from the vehicle. He was taken to the hospital with minor injuries.

Meantime another officer chased the stolen squad car through Fergus Falls, reaching speeds of 50MPH.

Lt. Eldien: “the officers were prepared should there be a greater risk or someone else would be present in the scenario that they would have utilized a pursuit intervention technique and ended it immediately.”

The chase ended as Bad Moccasin struck the curb and stopped. The officer approached the vehicle with his gun drawn and made an arrest without struggle.

Lt. Eldien: “it’s hard to understand why someone would go from no criminal activity to to something so severe.”

As that arresting officer was taking Bad Moccasin to jail, she was allegedly laughing and joked about how she was practicing for her driver’s test. She also suggested the police department make the partition windows a little smaller.
