The state wants to keep a woman behind bars after cameras captured her taking an Albuquerque Police cruiser on a joy ride.
Video shows Markeda Rivera punch an officer and then take off in her cruiser near Lomas and Wyoming on Wednesday afternoon. She didn’t make her first appearance in court for medical reasons, but the state filed a motion to keep her locked up until she appears in district court.
Prosecutors now want to hold Rivera behind bars in a February case where she allegedly hit a group of people with her car downtown. In that case, Rivera was out on pretrial services as she awaited trial in January.
