The owners of an auto repair shop in Jackson said a burglary ended with shots fired and the suspect stealing a police cruiser.

Gary McGloster manages Auto One Service Center on Raymond Road. He said someone broke into the shop Friday around 1 a.m.

His alarm company called to alert him. The suspect was recorded on surveillance video going through the inside of the shop while smoking a cigarette.

“He did go through a lot of paperwork…didn’t mess with any electronics. You know we have televisions…didn’t mess with anything electronic, but he did steal a vehicle,” McGloster said.

The suspect stole a 2008 Chevy pickup from the repair shop.

McGloster said he came back two days later, and he was once again alerted by the security company. He said an officer arrived but did not find the suspect. Once more officers arrived, they brought the suspect out in handcuffs and put him in the back of a patrol car.

“I don’t know if this guy is just limber. I guess he got his hands around some of way got in the front seat and stole the police car, hit three or four more vehicles as he was leaving. The police did pursue him. They shot at him a couple of times. I think they did hit him in the leg, and he crashed the car down the road,” McGloster said.

There is no information on the suspect’s name or charges. 16 WAPT reached out to Jackson police multiple times for more information about the case.
