Police say the person who stole this police car is a juvenile .

Houston police said it started when an officer was working a major traffic accident in northwest Houston Friday evening. Investigators tell Local 2 that the officer was busy helping firefighters pull one of the crash victims from a vehicle, when the juvenile, who was also involved in the crash, jumped in a vacant patrol car and took off.

Police used GPS to track the patrol car and a 20-minute chase ensued.

The chase started around 8 p.m. at North Houston Rosslyn Road and Breen Drive, according to authorities with the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.

The driver in the stolen unit traveled west on Beltway 8 and eastbound on Highway 290 before exiting and leading police on a chase through the area.
