Two Carrollton residents were arrested Thursday and taken to the Gregg County Jail after Department of Public Safety troopers accused them of stealing a Lewisville Police Department car.

James J. Sneed, 31, and Danielle Latrice Thomas, 25, were arrested about 12:30 p.m. by DPS troopers on Interstate 20 near the intersection with Texas 31.

Sneed and Thomas were pulled over for driving in the left lane while not passing and for speeding, the probable cause affidavit for their arrests said.

The trooper was able to smell marijuana coming from the vehicle and noticed the vehicle was stolen, according to the report.

Both were charged with theft of a vehicle between $20,000 and $100,000, possession of less than two ounces of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.

Sneed and Thomas were held Friday in the Gregg County Jail on bonds totaling $8,000.
