The suspect wanted in connection with the shooting of a Harris County Sheriff’s Office deputy is now in custody, according to a statement Sheriff Ed Gonzalez released this morning.
Chase Layne Patin, 25, was caught in the general area where the search efforts had been focused.
“I’m grateful for the outstanding work of our HCSO teammates and all of our public safety partners who worked throughout the night to locate and apprehend the suspect,” said Sheriff Gonzalez. “Thank you to our community for your vigilance, support, and prayers. Additional details will be provided later.”
The deputy was shot in his lower body Wednesday night while responding to a family disturbance call in the 1100 block of Bayou near the East Freeway in East Harris County.
He’s in stable condition at a hospital and expected to recover.
“Please keep the injured deputy, their family, and fellow law enforcement officers in your thoughts and prayers,” said Sheriff Gonzalez.
The patrol car was located near Dell Dale and East Freeway.
