NBC 10 News obtained video of police arresting a Pawtucket man accused of stealing a police cruiser.
Jared Remson, 27, is accused of leading police on a high-speed chase in a stolen Providence police cruiser over the weekend.
The stolen cruiser was outside Rhode Island Hospital when it was stolen at 1:46 a.m., a Providence police spokeswoman, Lindsay Lague, said Saturday in a written statement.
The statement did not explain how the man actually took control of the cruiser.
Connecticut state police learned that the cruiser was entering eastern Connecticut from Rhode Island at 2:32 a.m. A Connecticut state trooper spotted the Providence cruiser soon after that on I-95, police said.
The Pawtucket man was arrested without incident after he was stopped and was charged with first-degree larceny, engaging police in a pursuit, reckless driving, failure to drive in the proper lane and resisting an officer. He was shirtless in a booking photo.
He failed to post a bond of $50,000 and remains held in Connecticut in advance of a court appearance on Monday morning, police say.
The man also faces charges in Rhode Island, Lague said.
