The Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office captured an inmate who escaped from the Hardeman County Jail.

The inmate, identified as Randy Cannon, escaped custody early Monday.

According to the sheriff’s office, Cannon gained access to a marked patrol car that was undergoing maintenance and drove away from the facility without authorization.

Cannon was captured and taken back into custody.

Authorities found Cannon approximately one mile from the Hardeman County Sheriff’s Office.
