 A Hampton County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) patrol car was stolen on Tuesday morning, initiating a vehicle pursuit that resulted in two deputies being injured and a suspect being arrested.

According to officials from HCSO, a patrol car was stolen near the Charleston Highway area, resulting in a high-speed pursuit that ended in the area of Palmetto Avenue and Cemetery Road. Here, one individual was taken into custody.

In total, three patrol cars were damaged during the pursuit, and two deputies were injured. Authorities say they are expected to recover and be back on duty in the next couple of weeks.

The HCSO said that as of 6 p.m. on Tuesday, both deputies had been released from the hospital and are doing well.

Officials later arrested the suspect, but their identity has not yet been released.
