A city police car has been recovered after being stolen from a Home Depot parking lot Sunday, according to authorities.
Newark Police Director Eugene Venable said the unmarked car did not contain any weapons or significant police equipment when it was taken from the lot on Springfield Avenue.
Authorities did not disclose where or when the vehicle was recovered, or whether it had been damaged while being broken into.
Venable said the case remains under investigation, but expressed assurance that the suspects involved in the theft would be apprehended.
“We are following up on several tips and I am confident that, with the aid of surveillance video which captured the incident and the suspects involved, we will be able to close this case soon,” he said.
