Police say one of their vehicles was damaged when a prisoner tried to steal it.

According to an affidavit, the incident started Thursday afternoon around 4:45 with a welfare check in the 1100 block of E. Virginia St.

Police say two women, 23-year-old Megan McQueen and 25-year-old Kenzie Mills, were detained after they were seen going into a restaurant bathroom for 30 minutes and drug paraphernalia was found in the trash can when they left.

The affidavit says the pair was slurring their words and unable to stay on their feet.

Police say a brown substance found in the trash can tested positive for fentanyl and heroin.

McQueen and Mills were then taken to the hospital for treatment. After they were medically cleared, officers went to take them from the hospital in a squad car, but Mills said she felt like she was going to be sick.

A transport van was called in for Mills, but while they were moving her to the van, police say McQueen crawled to the front of the squad car and locked the doors.
Police say she put the car in drive and tried to get away by driving through the helicopter landing pad, but she ended up crashing into a helicopter fuel tank.

A 14 News viewer sent us video of the crash after McQueen started driving the EPD car.

Police said McQueen sustained minor injures and was captured at the crash site. She is now in jail on a long-list of charges including auto theft and resisting law enforcement.

Mills is facing drug-related charges.
