North Little Rock police say a hospital patient rams a security guard with a patrol car.

It happened around 1 p.m. Sunday at Baptist Medical Center. When police arrived, Baptist Security escorted 48-year-old Tyrone Swift out of the hospital. He was placed in the back of a patrol car, but police say he jumped into the driver’s seat and hit the gas striking a security guard.

The security guard was pinned under an ambulance and patrol car.

“As far as the investigation goes is how he was able to get out of the back seat that’s under investigation, we’re still not sure yet. Our vehicles are equipped with mechanisms where the doors not able to be opened from the inside so we are still investigating that part of it,” says Sergeant Brian Dedrick.

Swift is now in custody. The security guard has a broken leg. Swift is back in the hospital, for injuries sustained during the arrest. He will be charged and booked upon his release.
