The Ashland County Sheriff’s Office has confirmed that a woman accused of stealing a cruiser after she was arrested Sunday is in custody.

Authorities say they were called to reports of someone lurking around a home in Loudonville Sunday afternoon. When they arrived, officers found a woman inside the home, and she was arrested.

The woman was handcuffed and put into the backseat of a cruiser, which officers left running while they searched for another suspect. Police believe the woman was then able to slip out of her handcuffs and crawl through the cage inside the car.

She’s then accused of taking off in the car, which was found nearby behind a barn.

The details of the woman’s arrest have not been released. But authorities were using a plane with heat technology to locate her
