A Chiloquin woman was tazed and then arrested Tuesday evening after she tried to steal a police car.Tara Lynn Harris, 23, originally called 911 requesting police assistance because she thought someone was following her in her car, according to Lt. Rob Dentinger with the Klamath Falls Police Department.
“When the officer got to her she was obviously under the influence of some type of narcotic because of the paranoid statements she was making,” he said. “She was saying she knew something bad was going to happen.”
At that point, Harris got out of her car and began trying to walk away. The officer on scene was walking backward in front of her, trying to stop her from leaving while he waited for backup to arrive, Dentinger said.
“She turned and ran, got in his police car, shut the door and locked it,” he said.
The driver’s side window was open, and the officer came in through the window. Harris then attempted to put the police cruiser into gear, at which point the officer knocked her arm away and used his Tazer to subdue her.
Harris was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle, unlawful entry into a motor vehicle, resisting arrest and interfering with a police officer. She is being held at the Klamath County Jail in lieu of $25,000 bail.
