Denver police said they have located an undercover squad car that was stolen Friday morning near the Denver Police Protective Association’s headquarters on the northwest side.
A Denver police spokeswoman said she did not know how a red Chevorlet Impala was taken about 11:45 a.m. near Decatur Street and West 21st Avenue.
The car was found abandoned about three hours later, spokeswoman Raquel Lopez said.
Police said on Twitter that the car was found in the 1000 block of Knox Cort. One male suspect was taken into custody.
The “unmarked unit” included “personal items that could have possibly included an ID” but no weapons, she said.
More than 200 officers had gathered at the police union’s events center about that time for an officers memorial luncheon. Lopez said she had no other details about the theft.
