The Hidalgo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of a Department of Public Safety unit that was stolen Monday night.
The unmarked car was stolen around 11 p.m. near the intersection of East Iowa and South Alamo roads in rural Edinburg. The vehicle was later found abandoned
Tuesday morning near Curry Road, said department spokesman J.P. Rodriguez.
An undisclosed amount of equipment and firearms were taken from the vehicle, Rodriguez said.
DPS spokesman Sgt. Johnny Hernandez said that sheriff’s investigators are conducting the investigation.
