A Nottingham, New Hampshire man was arrested Tuesday evening after lunging at a police officer and stealing the officer’s cruiser at the scene of a serious motor vehicle accident.Jack Drukker, 18, of Deerfield Road in Nottingham, was arrested on Rollins Road near an accident in which a male driver sustained life threatening injuries and the female driver sustained serious injuries.
According to a press release from Police Chief Bob Ducharme, on Tuesday evening, a Rollinsford officer noticed a suspicious male, later identified as Drukker, acting strange at the scene of the accident. When the male began walking toward the scene the officer approached him, at which point Drukker lunged at the officer and attempted to steal his badge.
The officer pushed Drukker off him and Drukker ran from the scene. While the officer was looking for Drukker, he watched him jump into the police car and drive away from the scene. When Drukker stopped the cruiser near the truck, he was immediately arrested and charged with theft of an automobile, assault of a police officer and resisting arrest.
He was transported to Wentworth Douglass Hospital for medical evaluation, before being transferred to the Strafford County House of Corrections.
He was arraigned on Wednesday, May 2. He is currently held at the SCHC on $5000 cash bail.
