Vermont State Police said a Berkshire man attempted to steal a U.S. Border Patrol vehicle Friday afternoon.
Police said they were called, in addition to Fish and Wildlife, to help patrol agents around 5 p.m.
Investigators allege Wayne Wescott, 45, tried to get into the driver’s side of the vehicle.
Wescott has been cited with attempted operation without owner’s consent, impeding an investigation and resisting arrest.
He was taken to jail for lack of $5,000 bail, police said, and is expected in court Monday.
Investigators did not say what led up to Wescott allegedly trying to get into the patrol vehicle.
