A Metro police cruiser was stolen Thursday evening and after a pursuit, a woman was arrested and charged with burglary of a vehicle.
According to an arrest affidavit, Metro police were called to Harding Place after someone reported a person with a weapon.
The responding officer reviewed footage and saw 31-year-old Jennifer Stewart taking items from a car, according to the affidavit. Stewart was put in the back of the police cruiser and officers say an unknown suspect took the cruiser.
Metro police reported seeing the cruiser about three miles from where it was stolen and this time, Stewart was driving.
Metro police followed the cruiser through Midtown and South Precincts before “terminating” the pursuit on Mt. View Road and Crossings Boulevard in Antioch. Spike strips were deployed by officers to end the pursuit.
Stewart is charged with burglary of a vehicle, vehicle theft, felony vandalism and evading arrest. Her bond was set at $37,500.
