Greenville police said a man died after a stolen marked patrol car crashed into a brick wall on Thursday evening.

Officer Jonathan Bragg said an officer was responding to a crash near Cleveland Street and Pleasantburg Drive when a person involved in the incident jumped into his patrol car and took off.

The car was spotted a short time later on Parkins Mill Road and police said they initiated a pursuit. Police said the vehicle then crashed into a brick wall on Verdae Boulevard.

Coroner Parks Evans confirmed the driver died on the scene.
