A man has been arrested for allegedly stealing a running undercover police vehicle. According to police, a Jeep Cherokee used in undercover operations was being warmed up in the parking lot behind the McKeesport Police Department.
Detectives soon noticed that the unattended vehicle was missing. Police suspected a man they had just released from a holding cell for being drunk and disorderly at UPMC McKeesport Hospital.
After reviewing surveillance footage, police issued a “Be on the Lookout” alert.
Shortly after, the vehicle was spotted and officers pulled it over on the Boston Bridge.
A man inside the vehicle, Mario Tiller, was arrested and is facing a list of charges including, theft, receiving stolen goods and driving with a suspended license.
He is being held in the Allegheny County Jail.
