A Janesville man attempted to escape arrest Tuesday by stealing a squad car.
Jacob Ramos of Janesville was arrested Tuesday for driving while intoxicated after his vehicle was seen swerving in the road and crossing the center line of traffic. He was then hand-cuffed and placed in the back of a squad car.
As officers continued investigating the traffic stop, Ramos maneuvered his hands around to the front of his body, squeezed himself through the window of the car’s security partition and made his way into the front seat of the vehicle. Ramos then escaped the scene in the squad car. The car was later located, abandoned, at Parker Community Credit Union in Janesville.
K9 units tracked Ramos to an apartment in the 2500 block of Holiday Drive, where he was arrested and transported to the Rock County Jail.
Ramos is charged with two counts of Operating While Intoxicated, Operating a Motor Vehicle without Owner Consent, Theft, Escape, Resisting an Officer, and Possession of THC.
