01/19/14 Black Creek, NC – Ex-Boyfriend Lights Her House On Fire – Handcuffed – Steals Police Car – Injuries To Police Officer – Empty Police Car Found – Guns Missing – Escaped

Law enforcement in the east is looking for a man they say brazenly stole a police officer’s patrol car as he sat handcuffed in the unit.

The Black Creek Police Department and the Wilson County Sheriff’s Office are looking for 41-year-old Anthony Jordan of Harper Street in Wilson.

Officials say that around 2:41 Sunday morning, a Black Creek police officer responded to a house fire call at 127 Crawford Lane, where the officer had minutes prior ran tags on an unoccupied vehicle in the roadway. On his way there, the officer says he saw the vehicle pass him.

According to officials, the officer stopped the vehicle which they say was driven by Jordan. The officer says that Jordan smelled of kerosene. Police say that the officer handcuffed Jordan behind the back and detained him in the passenger seat of his police unit. While the officer was inspecting Jordan’s car, officials say that Jordan drove off with the officer’s patrol vehicle. We’re told the officer suffered minor injuries while attempting to stop the vehicle.

The Wilson County Sheriff’s Office says that they responded to the scene. Officials say the victim of the house fire says that she and her son were inside the home when they heard some unknown type of noises and soon discovered their home on fire.

Investigators say they discovered that Jordan was the ex-boyfriend of the victim and also the driver of the unknown vehicle parked in front of the victim’s residence.

The stolen patrol car was found off a service road located at I-795 and Alton Road. 2 duty weapons were said to have been stolen from the patrol vehicle.

Jordan is facing 2 counts of attempted 1st degree murder, 1st degree arson, larceny of a motor vehicle, 2 counts of larceny of a firearm, and assault of a government official.
