On Thursday, January 12, 2012 the Auburn Police Division arrested Randy L. Reid, age 30, of Auburn on warrants charging him with Assault 2nd Degree, Theft of Property 1st Degree (Attempted), Reckless Endangerment, Resisting Arrest, and Fleeing or Attempting to Elude Police.
There was also an outstanding warrant on Reid for Drug Trafficking (Marijuana).
His arrest stems from an incident occurring earlier this same date when a patrol officer attempted a traffic stop on a 1990 Honda Accord on North Donahue Drive.
The driver, later identified as Reid, failed to stop at which time a pursuit began. The vehicle struck a utility pole on North Donahue Drive but continued on until finally crashing into a fence at a residence located in the 500 block of Vickerstaff Street.
Reid then attempted to flee the scene on foot but was apprehended by the pursuing officer after a brief struggle in which the officer received minor injuries. During the struggle Reid also attempted to flee in the officer’s patrol vehicle.
Reid was transported to the Lee County Detention Center where he is currently being held on a $36,000 bond.
