Officers shot and killed an armed robbery suspect who allegedly stole a police truck Monday in West Jordan.

UPDATE: The suspect has been identified as 23-year-old Michael Glad.

Police responded to a call about an armed robbery at a 7/11 on 6200 South and Dixie Road around 3:00 p.m. An officer spotted a truck fleeing the scene on 6200 South west of the 7-11. The officer confronted the suspect and somehow the suspect was able to commandeer the officer’s truck with a K9 still inside.

As the suspect drove away in the police truck, he noticed a number of officers who were coming toward him from the west. The suspect crashed the police truck into two other vehicles at the intersection of 4000 West and 6200 South.

When police approached the truck, officers opened fire on the suspect who died at the scene. Several people from the cars that were hit were taken to the hospital, but police did not immediately know the extent of their injuries.

The officer whose truck was stolen was not injured, according to West Jordan Police.

Authorities have closed 6200 South From Center Park Dr to Dixie Dr while the Officer-Involved Critical Incident team investigates the shooting.

West Jordan Police did not immediately identify the suspect, but said he did have a gun with him. Police did not yet release information on if the suspect fired on officers.

6200 South is expected to be closed for several hours. 2News will have live reports from the scene at 5, 6, and 10 p.m.
